Abstract: The evaluation of soil degradation particularly the quality of soil has increased as soil is an important component of the earth, functioning both in the production of food, storage of water, fibres and in the maintenance of environmental quality. Reduction in soil quality has posed serious challenge to increasing agricultural productivity, economic growth, and healthy environment owing to inappropriate land use and soil management and natural causes. Soil is defined as being polluted when pollutants/metal concentrations in its bulk horizons exceed baseline values (allowable standard limits). Soil polluted with heavy metals is of one the most ecological problems because it is related directly to the human health since these metals accumulate in various ecosystems, reflect in both the plant, animal and microbiological processes and finally enter humans through the food chain

Abstract: Soil erosion is among the most challenging and continuous environmental problems in highland parts of Ethiopia. Highland areas of Ethiopia are receiving high rainfall and are occupied by high population density, and causes soil erosion in the form of water erosion. Soil erosion induced by water had an impact on national food supply, downstream flooding and reservoir sedimentation, and loss of valuable plant nutrients.

Abstract: Currently, a Eucalyptus globule is a common smallholder plantation species in the Wogera district. The species is significantly expanding on marginal and fertile farmlands. The objective is to analyze the effects of Eucalyptus globules woodlots plantation and their directions on selected soil physicochemical properties and yield of wheat crop. Three woodlots with similar site conditions were selected for this particular study.
